Q - How do I hang a wallpaper border?
A - We have a detailed How-To Guide with full instructions on How To Hang Wallpaper Borders here.
In short, apply border adhesive to the reverse of your wallpaper border using a brush & fold the border adhesive side to adhesive side and allow it to soak as per the manufacturer's timing instructions.
Apply your wallpaper border to your wall and smooth flat with a wallpaper hanging brush, remove any excess adhesive immediately with a clean damp cloth.
Check the position is level before moving on to the next wall or length.
Q - Can I use wallpaper paste to stick my wallpaper border?
A - No, wallpaper paste will not adhere a border to any vinyl surface (this includes vinyl wallpaper or painted surfaces such as vinyl matt, soft sheen or silk).
Wallpaper paste requires the surface to be porous and absorbent which aids a slow drying process maintaining tension as wallpaper dries out from the joint to the centre of each length.
If you choose to try wallpaper paste in these circumstances it will simply curl at the edges as the adhesive dries and possibly fall down.
A vinyl-to-vinyl border and overlap adhesive is required to permanently adhere a wallpaper border to a (non-porous) wallpapered or painted surface. View all of our adhesives, including border adhesive here.
Q - What type of adhesive should I use to stick my borders?
A - It is highly recommended that you use vinyl-to-vinyl border and overlap adhesive to stick wallpaper borders to walls, wallpaper or painted surfaces.
This allows adhesion onto non-porous surfaces (this includes vinyl wallpaper or painted surfaces such as vinyl matt, soft sheen or silk).
Q - Are wallpaper borders available that are self-adhesive?
A - Yes, we offer a range of self adhesive borders here at Home Flair Decor, these are limited in choice due to availability. Please check back regularly if you cannot find what you think you might be looking for
Q - Can you reposition self adhesive borders?
A - No, once a these borders make initial contact with your wall they will stick, if you attempt to peel back you will reduce the adhesion qualities and may damage the decorated surface you are hanging on.
